Spooked: Rigging – Week 10

I used these tutorial videos that Becca had suggested.

Rigging is a nightmare. They were really good and I feel a lot more confident with rigging now.

IK spline handles allow us to control one point of the spine and cause the other joints to react accordingly. It can also allow us control of the same rig from multiple points.

IK handles are used to hold the element limb in place when there’s something held in place hand on the ground and you want to move the rest of the object body around it.

Naming conventions: EFF – effective, HDL – handle.

I used an IK spline handle to create the spine’s control curve an then used curbs to create the handles.

I used the EP curve tool to turn a polygonal object into a NURBS object and create the control handles.

By creating a FK joint chain onto of an IK one, we get a degree of control over them.


Alec had suggested using a much more simpler rig for our character so he helped set one up for us:Screen Shot 2016-04-20 at 23.12.57.png

Weight painting tutorial I used:

Hold down ctrl to remove paint. Hold shift to even out the paint shades.


 

Méabh did a fantastic job with creating blend shapes for the eyes of our character.


The monsters arms were a nightmare to weight paint but it turned out well in the end.
